Keynote speaker
(in partnership with the Community Arts Practice program
at York University) Mbala
is an artist, poet and musician with an inspiring story
of mural art that has empowered inner city Jamaican
youth.
Murals and Community will
illustrate his work with Kingston's Area Youth
Foundation, and murals that explore a community's
history, problems and hopes for the future.

afternoon session
with master muralist/educator
John Hood. A look at the
finest mural art from prehistory to the cell phone era.
Our
Space: Our Stories
featuring
a presentation by Caroline Bright and Elena Dumitru of
Amnesty International Toronto's
Project: Urban Canvas
will be followed by a
roundtable discussion to share our own projects and
ideas.

Routes' Executive Director Karin Eaton; with reports from
Modern Mural Experts' meeting at the Getty Conservation
Institute, Canadian Conservation Institute with Debra Daly Hartin,
and Midland BIA's mural conservation program with artist
Terri Lee Milley .

community connections with Julie Frost, Art Director - Arts for Children
